About Us
The National Career Service Centre for Differently Abled, Shillong is a sub-ordinate office of Directorate General of Employment, Ministry of Labour and Employment, Government of India. The centre aims at overall development and empowering the Persons with Disabilities (PwDs) through assessment of their residual capacities, providing proper guidance, career counselling, and skill development and assisting through vocational rehabilitation. The centre is working to fulfill educational, vocational & rehabilitation needs of the PwDs and impart non-formal training in the trade best suited for them in the age group of 15-50 years by enhancing their employability.
Detail
1. To evaluate the PwDs to unfold their full potentials;
2. To ascertain medical, psychological, social, vocational & economic needs of the PwDs for mainstream them into the community successfully;
3. To identify the needs as well as assists PwDs to develop rehabilitation plan and to assist through government and non-government organizations for rehabilitation services;
4. To create community awareness & social responsibility about the problems of the PwDs and to demonstrate their abilities on competitive vocations, utilizing the residual functional abilities;
5. To work out better coordination and understanding amongst the rehabilitation agencies and promote rehabilitation services at block, district and state level;
6. To provide guidance & counselling for training, self-employment, employment.
7. Non-formal Training under Computer Applications and Electrical & Home Appliances Repairing Trade.
